The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) and California State University, Fresno (CSUF) strengthened their exchange programs by signing a collaboration agreement.
The meeting was held to strengthen both institutions' academic, cultural, and sports exchange programs, particularly in the health areas, including the Nursing Career in Fresno, a program with the highest demand and recognition in the state of California.
Both institutions, in turn, renewed a 2006 agreement to promote student mobility, teachers, researchers, summer programs, and mirror classrooms.
Dr. Sal Jiménez Sandoval, Chancellor of California State University, Fresno, spoke at the event, emphasizing that UAG is an ally for the institution he represents and that it contributes to one of its missions, which is to represent the image and essence of Mexico abroad. In addition to maintaining ties between the region's cultures and communities.
Sixty-six percent of the students at this university are Mexican, with four out of ten hailing from Jalisco.
Because of these figures, as well as the caliber of UAG and its School of Medicine, California State University, Fresno, is eager to maintain friendship and collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
On behalf of the Chancellor of UAG, Lic. Antonio Leaño Reyes, Dr. Alfonso Petersen Farah, Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences of UAG, stated that one of the important tasks of this academic institution is the formation of friendship bonds and the reinforcement of culture, identity, and collaboration for the benefit of society and education.
Dr. Ricardo Beltrán Rojas, Secretary General; Dr. Hugo de la Rosa Pealoza, Academic Vice President; Fernando Torres de la Torre, Director of Internationalization; and Carlos González Barragán, Director of Outreach and Institutional Relations all attended the signing on behalf of UAG.
Officials and representatives from organizations in Fresno, California, who paid a courtesy visit to UAG, also attended the signing of the agreement.
Ms. Dora Westerlund, CEO and President of the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation; Miguel Arias, Councilman of Fresno's District 3; Luis Chávez, Councilor of District 5; and David Preciado, Director of International Relations for the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation were among those who attended.
Special guests included Naitze Prado, Head of International Relations for the City of Zapopan, David Valdivia, President of Valdivia Marketing Group, and Lorena Valdivia, Vice President of Valdivia Marketing Group (VMG).
