Building a Career Rooted in UAG Foundations
After completing his medical studies at UAG, Dr. Bartoi began specializing in diagnostic radiology at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Michigan

Today, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and serves as Chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital and Henry Ford Health Center in Brownstown, Michigan.
His career spans leadership positions, teaching appointments, and extensive clinical expertise. He has also contributed to research and publications, including co-authoring sections in the Textbook of Pediatric Neuroradiology (Springer-Verlag, 2005)

Despite these accomplishments, Dr. Bartoi often points back to UAG as the place that gave him his first exposure to medicine in practice.

“The school made sure that we got an amazing education here and always strived to improve the program—making sure that we had rotations in the U.S. and in Puerto Rico, so we could become familiar with the healthcare environments where we would later practice. In retrospect, it was the best years of my life.”

A Return to Campus
During his recent visit, Dr. Bartoi toured both the historic campus and the new International Medicine facilities, noting the significant transformations.

“It’s been a few years since I came back, and I’m really happy I did so. I got to visit the new campus and the old campus, and the changes the school has made are incredible.”

He shared that during his studies he had the opportunity to take classes with national students, which was enriching as he practiced his Spanish. On this visit, he was impressed to see the Simulation Center and the CIES (Immersive Center for Health Education), noting the innovative use of space, the investment made, and the shift from working with rabbits to simulators, 3D models, renderings on the SECTRA table, and virtual patient platforms. Inspired by these advances, he even mentioned wanting to return to his studies with such tools now available.
UAG
Strengthening the Alumni Network
Dr. Bartoi fondly recalled his professors, his rotation in the Community Medicine Program (still active today), and the lessons that helped shape his career. He emphasized the importance of alumni engagement, encouraging graduates to remain connected with UAG through teaching, mentorship, and alumni associations.

“I would encourage all of you as alumni to teach here, to participate in the alumni associations. I think the current students appreciate that as well, and the university values your contributions.”

And for those who would like to reconnect in person, UAG extends an open invitation:
