The Student Success Program

The Student Success Program is a wonderful initiative that is helping students to succeed beyond the shadow of a doubt. When students enroll in UAG School of Medicine they can be sure that they will be able to accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams.

Early Alert and Intervention
Our early alert and intervention program helps to identify students who are struggling academically. We help them get back on track and give them a referral for Academic Success Coaching and additional services offered at the Center for Student Success.
Academic Success Coaching
We refer students for academic success coaching so that we can help them learn the proper skills required to become excellent students. Counselors help them with study habits, lifestyles, and routines so that they can excel academically and find success in the medical field.
Teaching Assistant Program
UAG Medical School has a wonderful Teaching Assistant (or TA) program. The faculty of the Medical School selects only the best and brightest students from their program to become teaching assistants. These TAs hold office hours and conduct study sessions before every exam to help the students in the program succeed.
Peer Mentoring Program
The faculty of the Medical School also pairs new students with upperclassmen in the peer mentoring program. These mentors help new students transition smoothly to their new environment and assist in answering any questions their mentees have about their new environment.
Mental Health Counseling and Wellness Services
UAG employs a team of certified psychologists who are available to the students so that they can manage their mental health and well-being and thrive in medical school. There is also a referral system in place in the event that a student needs to see a qualified physician.
Language Program (ESL and SSL)
UAG Medical School and the UAG International Language Center help tutor students who are not completely fluent in English or Spanish. This helps students to succeed via exams and courses handcrafted to help students excel.
USMLE Coaching
Tutors for the USMLE are provided by the Center for Student Success. These coaches help students achieve their goals and pass the very challenging USMLE. This can be an asset to medical students who need to pass this exam to practice medicine.
