The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) proudly celebrated the achievements of a new class of international graduates from its prestigious School of Medicine. These accomplished students from the United States and Puerto Rico have now joined the ranks of over 19,000 UAG-trained physicians making an international footprint in healthcare.
"Your future, like UAG’s, is bright and full of promise. You will continue refining your skills and demonstrating the professionalism instilled in you as you adapt to new challenges,"
Said Dr. Julie Harrigan, a distinguished alumna of UAG’s School of Medicine, during her inspiring speech.
Dr. Harrigan, who has over a decade of experience in hospital medicine and physician leadership, reminded the graduates that their education at UAG equips them to create new legacies and shape the future of medicine.
“Today, you join a global family of UAG alumni. As ambassadors of this extraordinary institution, you carry forward a legacy of excellence, leadership, and innovation,” she added.
With 90 years of experience, UAG is Mexico’s first private university and a pioneer in international medical education. Offering a values-driven curriculum and cutting-edge training, UAG has graduated over 140,000 professionals, including 19,000 from the United States of America and Puerto Rico.
Early Clinical Exposure: From the first year, students engage with real patients and gain hands-on experience through Medical Brigades and state-of-the-art simulation centers.
Global Recognition: UAG graduates are eligible to apply for residency in all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and Canada, and they consistently match into competitive programs across specialties such as Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery.
Comprehensive Curriculum: UAG’s program integrates academic rigor with practical skills, preparing students to excel in the USMLE and beyond.
Supportive Community: From orientation to graduation, UAG fosters a collaborative environment where students build lifelong connections with peers, mentors, and faculty.
At the ceremony, Dr. Kashif Ahmad, Dean of UAG’s International Medicine Program, emphasized the university’s unparalleled commitment to its students.
“UAG is not just your alma mater; it’s your home. Our mission is to support you in becoming compassionate, skilled, and globally-minded physicians. Stay connected, and let us celebrate your achievements as you shape the future of healthcare,” he said.
The event concluded with a heartfelt message from graduate representative Keudes R. Roldán Rodríguez, who reflected on the resilience required to complete this journey.
"Our circumstances do not define us; our ability to face challenges with courage and perseverance shapes our future," he said.
UAG invites aspiring physicians to join a program that not only prepares them for successful medical careers but also instills values that transform them into leaders in healthcare.
