
Dr. Joseph D’Amore has dedicated over four decades to advancing the field of allergy and asthma care, combining clinical expertise, research, and community service to make a meaningful impact on the lives of his patients. Currently serving as the Director of Allergy & Asthma at Urban Health Plan in Bronx, New York, Dr. D’Amore brings extensive experience and leadership to his practice, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. D’Amore has held key leadership positions, including Director of Outpatient Care – Allergy & Asthma at Jamaica Hospital in Queens and Director of Medical Affairs at Goodwill Industries. Notably, he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the prestigious Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) in Mexico, a milestone that laid the foundation for his remarkable career in medicine. His education at UAGSOM provided him with a global perspective on healthcare, equipping him with the knowledge and skills to navigate complex medical challenges and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.
Following his MD, Dr. D’Amore completed extensive training in the United States, including internships and residencies at Long Island College Hospital and Winthrop University Hospital, where he earned recognition as Resident and Chief Resident of the Year. He also completed a fellowship in Allergy & Immunology, focusing on both adult and pediatric care, solidifying his expertise in diagnosing and treating asthma, allergies, and immunological disorders.
Dr. D’Amore’s dedication extends beyond clinical practice. He has contributed to numerous research publications in journals such as the Journal of Clinical Immunology and the American Journal of Nursing, covering topics from food allergies to the management of asthma in pregnant patients.
His commitment to education is equally notable; he has lectured at institutions including Stony Brook and Downstate Medical Schools and has been actively involved with professional societies like the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Allergy.
Beyond his professional achievements, he has a long-standing record of community service. He has been recognized with awards such as the Long Island Health Care Hero Award, the March of Dimes Award, and numerous honors from Goodwill Industries and local hospitals for his contributions to underserved communities. Whether providing vaccinations to homebound patients or participating in global medical outreach with the Peace Corps in Panama, Dr. D’Amore’s work reflects a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for all.
When he’s not advancing the field of allergy and asthma care, Dr. D’Amore enjoys playing tennis and exploring his passion for gourmet cooking, a hobby that goes back to his days in medical school. His journey from UAG to becoming a leading voice in allergy and asthma care demonstrates a lifetime of dedication, skill, and heart, making him a true inspiration in the medical community.
