Work from the UAG School of Medicine academic community was presented at the XLIII Congreso Nacional de Pediatría (AMP), held July 21–24, 2026, at the World Trade Center in Mexico City.

The study, "Frecuencia y tratamiento de las secuelas cutáneas y osteomusculares en pacientes pediátricos con quemaduras en un hospital de referencia," grew out of a research mentorship with residents at the Hospital Civil de Guadalajara. The project was led by Dr. Lucía Álvarez and presented by Dr. Emily Páez Morales.

UAG School of Medicine students Jairelisse Morales Morales and Valerie Nicole Colón Vega contributed to the project, which the research team will continue developing toward publication.

The work reflects the collaborative research culture fostered at the UAG School of Medicine, made possible with the support of the Nuevo Hospital Civil de Guadalajara Dr. Juan I. Menchaca. Opportunities like this one connect UAG students with mentorship, clinical research, and hospital partnerships that extend well beyond the classroom, the kind of hands-on experience that shapes physicians before they ever reach residency.

For students considering a deliberate path toward a North American medical career, moments like this are proof of what's possible when academic community and clinical opportunity meet.
