Board-Certified in Family Medicine
UAG School of Medicine Alumnus

Dr. Rafael del Valle Díaz is a dedicated physician, educator, and proud alumnus of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) School of Medicine. With board certification in Family Medicine and years of experience in both clinical practice and medical education, Dr. del Valle brings invaluable expertise and passion to his role as Director of Clinical Sciences.

In his current position, Dr. del Valle serves as the primary liaison between UAG and its affiliated hospitals throughout Puerto Rico — a key site for clinical rotations. His work ensures that UAG medical students receive high-quality, hands-on clinical training in real-world healthcare settings. He collaborates closely with hospital leadership, clinical faculty, and site preceptors to maintain academic standards, coordinate rotation logistics, and enhance student experiences.

Dr. del Valle also provides individualized academic advising and professional development support to third- and fourth-year UAG students completing their clinical rotations on the island. His mentorship helps guide students through this critical phase of their medical education, preparing them for success on licensing exams, in residency placement, and in their future careers as physicians.

Additionally, Dr. del Valle oversees UAG’s Honorary Clinical Chairs — a distinguished group of clinical professionals who contribute to the academic excellence and reputation of the institution. Under his leadership, these honorary appointments continue to strengthen UAG’s academic ties with hospitals, communities, and medical leaders across the region.

Returning to UAG in a leadership role has been a deeply meaningful journey for Dr. del Valle. As an alumnus, he understands firsthand the value of a UAG education and the lifelong impact it has on students’ lives. His mission is to give back to the institution that helped shape his path, and to ensure that current and future UAG students have the resources, guidance, and support they need to thrive.

“Working at UAG as an alumnus has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. It’s an honor to support our students, strengthen our clinical programs, and help build a brighter future for healthcare — one UAG graduate at a time.”
