La Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) secured the 10th position in the 2026 Ranking of the Best Universities in Mexico, published by El Universal. This ranking evaluates the country’s leading higher education institutions based on academic indicators and labor market perception (Instituciones de Educación Superior - IES).

With this result, UAG remains in the Top 10 of the best educational institutions in Mexico for the second consecutive year.

Methodology

El Universal’s ranking methodology is based on two key sources: the opinion of academics and the perception of employers and recruiters. This provides a well-rounded evaluation from both the educational sector and the workforce.

For the second consecutive year, UAG ranks among the Top 10 universities in Mexico.
In this regard, UAG stood out for its applied professional training and impact on the labor market, achieving top positions in the ranking. It ranked 10th in employer evaluation and 6th in the academic assessment.

Programs Recognized in the Ranking

In addition to its overall institutional ranking, UAG earned recognition in eight academic programs evaluated by discipline, all of which were listed among the Top 10 in the Program Rankings.

These programs include Medicine, Actuarial Science, Dentistry, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Marketing, Architecture, and Chemical Engineering.

Leading Institutions

In its 2026 edition, El Universal highlighted that the top-ranked universities are those capable of integrating specialized technical knowledge with essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and professional ethics, competencies increasingly demanded in today’s workforce amid rapid technological advancement and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

With this achievement, UAG reinforces its upward trajectory in national rankings, strengthening its reputation as a leading higher education institution in Mexico.

Approaching Its Centennial

This recognition is especially significant as the institution approaches its centennial. Founded in 1935, UAG is Mexico’s first private university and a benchmark in higher education.
Over 91 years, it has graduated more than 155,000 mexican and international professionals across various fields.

Since its founding, UAG has maintained educational leadership through innovative programs and strategic partnerships with national and international institutions, including its current collaboration with Arizona State University.

This recognition not only reaffirms UAG’s commitment to quality education but also drives its continued innovation and preparation for future challenges. With less than a decade before its centennial, UAG continues to evolve to remain at the forefront of higher education in Mexico.
