A distinguished nephrologist based in Houston, Texas, Dr. Lazaro Cherem brings over five decades of expertise to the healthcare field. Affiliated with multiple prestigious hospitals in the area, he is renowned for his comprehensive approach, compassionate care, and commitment to excellence in nephrology.

With a career spanning 51 years, he has established himself as a leading expert in nephrology, specializing in areas such as hypertension, dialysis & transplant medicine. His dedication to providing personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs sets him apart as a compassionate and understanding healthcare provider, his reviews on public platforms are just outstanding and every patient ends up corroborating what they initially read about him before going in to see him.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Cherem completed his fellowship in nephrology at
Washington University/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. His internship and residency experiences include positions at Dalhousie University School of Medicine in Nova Scotia, Canada, the National Institute of Cardiology in Mexico City, Mexico, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
He earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara.

Board-certified by the
American Board of Internal Medicine both in Internal Medicine and in nephrology, his dedication to staying at the forefront of medical advancements is evident in his active involvement in various professional organizations. He is a member of the St. Luke’s Independent Practice Association, the Harris County Medical Society, the Sociedad Medica American British Cowdray Hospital, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Transplant Medicine, and the Renal Physicians Association.

Among his other roles, Dr. Cherem’s hospital affiliations include
Houston Methodist Hospital, CHI Health/Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, and Kindred Hospital, all located in Houston. His presence in these institutions has profoundly impacted the quality of care provided to patients in the region.

Aside from his medical achievements, he is a multifaceted individual with various hobbies and interests. He enjoys reading, traveling, exploring different cultures and languages, watching movies, staying physically active, and engaging in meaningful family activities.
