Margaretville, NY – Dr. Paul Llobet, Margaret Hospital’s medical director, became the critical-access hospital’s executive director. He replaces Sandra Horan, who held the position since 2010 in addition to being the chief nursing officer of Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley. Horan remains as CNO and adds management oversight of Health Alliance Mental Health Services, Health Alliance President and Chief Executive Officer David Scarpino said in announcing the change. Margaretville Hospital’s new medical director will be announced shortly. Llobet’s new leadership position includes responsibilities for Margaretville Hospital’s day-to-day operations. “He will carry out his work in concert with the overall direction of the HealthAlliance healthcare system as part of the HealthAlliance Executive Cabinet,” Scarpino said. Llobet, board-certified in internal medicine, has been with Margaretville Hospital since September 2010. He started out as the emergency room director before becoming the medical director in 2012. He also runs a private general medicine practice with his wife, Dr. Holly Llobet, who is also board-certified in internal medicine. Paul Llobet, who turns 41 in October, graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Jalisco, Mexico, in 2002. He served from 2004 to 2007 as a medical resident at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Cabrini Medical Center in New York City. Before moving to Fleischmanns in 2010, Llobet was affiliated with St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Stony Brook University Medical Center on Long Island. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, which certifies physicians who practice internal medicine. Because of his new role, Llobet is now an ex officio member of the Margaretville Hospital board. He is also a member of the HealthAlliance Hospital: Mary’s Avenue Campus board and of the HealthAlliance Strategic Planning Committee. He is additionally chairman of the steering committee of the HealthAlliance Physician Network, facilitating the coordination of patient care across conditions, providers, settings and time. The idea behind this coordination, known as clinical integration, is to achieve care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-focused. Llobet speaks English and Spanish.
