Wellness looks different for everyone. For some students, exercise may be a way to work toward personal fitness goals. For others, it can be an opportunity to clear their minds, spend time with friends or simply step away from studying.
The gym includes treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical trainers, stair climbers, dumbbells, benches, strength-training machines and functional training equipment. Students also have access to lockers, showers and cell phone charging stations.
The facility is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., giving students flexibility to find a time that works with their schedules.
The gym is also supported by professional instructors who can help students develop exercise routines. Through UAG’s Comprehensive Sports Medicine Center (CAMID), students can access medical, nutritional and physiotherapy services.
For students pursuing a medical degree, developing healthy routines can be especially valuable. Medical education is a long-term commitment, and finding ways to balance academics with physical activity, social connection and time to recharge can contribute to a more well-rounded student experience.
At the UAG School of Medicine, we want students to have opportunities to grow both inside and outside the classroom.
Because caring for others begins with making space to care for yourself, too.
