How long does UAG’s MD Program last?
add

The 4-year MD program at UAG School of Medicine is designed to provide students with a comprehensive medical education that combines rigorous academic study with hands-on clinical training. Here's a breakdown of how it works:

1. Basic Sciences (Years 1 and 2)

  • Location: Primarily held at UAG’s International Campus in Guadalajara, Mexico.

  • Focus: Students begin with pre-clinical coursework, learning foundational subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. The curriculum is systems-based, which integrates multiple disciplines to offer a holistic understanding of the human body.
  • Hands-On Training: Early clinical exposure is a key part of the UAG experience. Students start their clinical skills training from the first semester through simulation labs and patient interactions.

2. Clinical Sciences (Years 3 and 4)

  • Location: Clinical rotations can be completed in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United States, allowing students to gain diverse, real-world medical experience.

  • Focus: In these two years, students participate in clinical rotations across major specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, and more. These rotations help students apply the knowledge they’ve gained in real patient settings.

This structured approach ensures that by the end of the four years, students are well-prepared for residency programs in the U.S., equipped with both academic knowledge and practical skills.
