The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) is proud to announce that one of our distinguished alumni, Dr. José Carlos Rivera Baiges, has been awarded a prestigious supplementary scholarship by the Triple-S Foundation, in collaboration with the Community Foundation. This recognition, given to six outstanding medical residents specializing in neurology, pediatrics, and orthopedics, aims to alleviate the financial burden of these future healthcare leaders.

Dr. Rivera Baiges, a graduate of UAG School of Medicine and a second-year neurology resident at the University of Puerto Rico’s Medical Sciences Campus, exemplifies the excellence and commitment we instill in our students. Reflecting on his career path, he firmly stated, "Leaving Puerto Rico is not negotiable. I’m staying here," underscoring his dedication to serving his community.
The Triple-S Foundation’s decision to expand the number of scholarships from three to six this year, based on the high caliber and commitment of the applicants, is a testament to the quality of professionals being nurtured at institutions like UAG. Dr. Rivera Baiges, along with his fellow recipients, is poised to make significant contributions to the healthcare sector in Puerto Rico.

At UAG, we remain committed to advancing healthcare in Puerto Rico and the U.S. through the education and support of dedicated medical professionals. Dr. Rivera Baiges’ achievement is a shining example of our alumni's impact on their communities. We are honored to have played a part in his journey and look forward to how he will continue to excel and lead in the field of neurology.

Congratulations, Dr. Rivera Baiges! Your success is a proud moment for UAG and a reaffirmation of our mission to prepare world-class medical professionals dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes locally and globally.
