In October 2024, the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) School of Medicine proudly hosted the “Let’s Make Doctors” Pre-Med Advisor Summit in the vibrant and historic city of Guadalajara, Mexico. This notable event brought together pre-med advisors and educators from across the United States, promoting collaboration between advisors, professors, and UAG in a shared commitment to training future doctors and contributing to the U.S. healthcare system.

The summit was designed to offer participants a deeper understanding of UAG’s comprehensive medical education program, including its innovative curriculum, focus on clinical skills development, and commitment to student success. Through a series of presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions, participants explored how UAG prepares students for the challenges of modern medicine.

Advisors were introduced to UAG's approach, which combines hands-on learning with advanced simulation technology and real-world medical practice. This immersive experience provided invaluable insights into how UAG’s medical program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective needed to excel in healthcare, particularly for those seeking to pursue medical career in the United States.

The event was not just about academics—it was also a celebration of culture. Participants experienced Guadalajara’s rich heritage through cultural excursions and events, enhancing the connection between UAG’s academic excellence and Mexico’s vibrant traditions. From guided campus tours to a traditional Mexican dinner, attendees were able to immerse themselves in the local culture while building relationships with UAG faculty, students, and peers.

One of the highlights of the summit was the opportunity for pre-med advisors to interact directly with UAG’s medical students. Through these discussions, participants gained first-hand perspectives on what it’s like to study at UAG, reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.

The “Let’s Make Doctors” Summit underscored UAG’s long-standing commitment to developing healthcare leaders who are prepared to address the evolving needs of global healthcare. Throughout the event, participants explored potential collaborations and learned how UAG's educational philosophy aligns with the needs of U.S. healthcare systems, particularly in training bilingual and culturally competent physicians.

The event concluded with a strong sense of shared purpose and enthusiasm for the future, as participants departed with new insights, connections, and a greater appreciation for UAG’s impact on medical education.
