Erick Ivan Marrero Santiago, a Student Ambassador for the UAG School of Medicine and the founder and president of the UAG Nephrology Interest Group, recently had the honor of representing the institution at the prestigious World Congress of Nephrology 2024. This remarkable opportunity came as recognition for his dedication to research and his leadership within the medical community.

Reflecting on the experience, Erick expressed his gratitude, saying,
"Thank you to Dr. Andrés Aranda for the opportunity and to my research colleagues, Faviola Negron, David Pagan, Cristian Rivera, and Valeria Mora."
The World Congress of Nephrology 2024, organized by the International Society of Nephrology, took place from April 13th to 16th in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This esteemed gathering brought together leading experts, researchers, and practitioners in nephrology from around the globe.

Erick and his team were eager to share their findings and contribute to advancing nephrology research. Their research projects delved into critical areas of nephrology, addressing pressing issues and exploring innovative solutions.

With the guidance of Dr. Andrés Aranda, Erick demonstrated exceptional dedication and passion for advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. Their collaborative efforts led to significant discoveries and breakthroughs in the field of nephrology.


The abstract Erick presented, titled "WCN24-359 Uncommon Alliance: Portal Hypertension in Diabetic Nephropathy-Related Nephrotic Syndrome with a Healthy Liver," is now published by The International Society of Nephrology (KIReports).

Erick's participation at the World Congress of Nephrology 2024 showcased UAG School of Medicine's commitment to excellence in research and education, further solidifying its reputation as a leading institution in the field of medicine.
