Back in 1999, he graduated with his medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. After completing his residency in internal medicine at the Berkshire Medical Center / University of Massachusetts affiliate in 2001, he completed a residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2004, and a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2006.
