At UAG School of Medicine, medical education goes beyond the classroom. Throughout their training, students have opportunities to put their knowledge into practice, develop their clinical skills, and gain experience working directly with others.

Recently, UAG medical students took part in on-campus brigades, creating an opportunity to bring their medical training to life through hands-on practice. These activities allowed students to step outside the traditional classroom setting and apply what they have been learning as they continue developing the skills needed for their future careers as physicians.

For medical students, experiences like these are an important part of learning. Practicing in a hands-on environment allows students to become more comfortable applying their knowledge, communicating with others, working as part of a team, and approaching real-world medical situations with greater confidence. It is also an opportunity to connect what they learn in their courses with the practical side of patient care.

The brigades brought students together in a collaborative environment where they could learn from one another while continuing to strengthen their clinical abilities. Experiences like these reinforce the importance of learning by doing and give students opportunities to continue building their skills throughout their medical education.

Dr. Kashif Ahmad, Dean of UAG School of Medicine, was also present during the activities, joining students as they participated in the brigades and practiced their developing medical skills. His presence highlighted the importance UAG places on creating meaningful opportunities for students to learn, practice, and grow throughout their journey in medicine.

From the classroom to practical experiences on campus and beyond, students are encouraged to apply their knowledge, strengthen their skills, and continue building the confidence needed to care for patients.

These campus brigades are another example of how UAG students are given opportunities to experience medicine in action, learning not only what it means to study medicine, but what it means to practice it.
