Research Day Highlights and Expanding Horizons in UAG-SOM’s Research Program

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine (UAG-SOM) recently hosted Research Day, a significant occasion in the institution's growing research endeavors. With 10 new abstracts presented and a cumulative total of 56 submissions throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, the event showcased the steady momentum driving UAG’s research program. Building on this success, 13 new scientific communications are already in development for the upcoming Research Day, promising continued contributions to medical science.
Expanding UAG-SOM’s Presence on International Platforms UAG-SOM’s research is making waves beyond the local campus, earning recognition on the global stage. This year, the school participated in prestigious international conferences, including:
6th World Congress on Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, featuring 10 e-posters from UAG researchers.
World Congress of Nephrology, held in Buenos Aires, where four scientific communications were presented.
Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Annual Meeting in Chicago, with two posters showcased during the event from October 5-9, 2024.
These international presentations emphasize UAG’s commitment to impactful research and demonstrate the school’s growing influence in global academic and healthcare communities.

In addition, a new collaboration with theInstituto Cardiovascular de Cirugía de Mínima Invasión (ICMI) is now in place, with three UAG students engaged in important cardiovascular research. These partnerships offer students mentorship and exposure to cutting-edge innovations, fostering their development as future leaders in medicine.
Faculty and Student Involvement in Research The commitment of UAG faculty plays a crucial role in the program’s success. This year, 12 students—supported by 10 faculty members and the Research Director—are actively engaged in diverse research projects. This increase in participation reflects UAG’s dedication to fostering a research-oriented culture, empowering students to explore new ideas and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of medical knowledge.
