UAG Celebrates Alumnus Dr. Adolfo Ramirez-Zamora’s Appointment as Chair of Neurology

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) School of Medicine proudly celebrates one of its distinguished alumni, Dr. Adolfo Ramirez-Zamora, on his appointment as Chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, effective December 2025.

This prestigious appointment marks another milestone in Dr. Ramirez-Zamora’s remarkable career as a leader, educator, and innovator in the field of neurological sciences. As chair, he will oversee the department’s clinical, research, and academic programs—fostering growth, collaboration, and excellence in patient care and neurological education.

Dr. Adolfo Ramirez-Zamora
A proud graduate of UAG, Dr. Ramirez-Zamora has built an extraordinary career dedicated to advancing understanding and treatment of neurological disorders. Before joining the University of Louisville, he served as Division Chief of the Movement Disorders Division in the Department of Neurology at the University of Florida, where he was recognized for his leadership in both clinical and academic areas. He also held key leadership positions at Albany Medical Center, contributing to national and international advancements in movement disorders and deep brain stimulation research.

Dr. Ramirez-Zamora’s medical journey began at UAG, where he earned his medical degree in Guadalajara, México. His postgraduate training reflects an exceptional commitment to excellence. With his extensive expertise and passion for patient-centered care, Dr. Ramirez-Zamora continues to exemplify UAG’s legacy of producing physicians who make a meaningful impact on healthcare systems across the world.
