U.S. FOCUSED MEDICAL EDUCATION
WITH GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES
At UAG School of Medicine, we offer an interactive learning environment that mirrors the structure of U.S. medical schools, providing a student-centered MD program tailored to prepare students for seamless integration into the U.S. healthcare system after graduation.
A significant portion of our students' clinical education takes place in the United States, giving them invaluable hands-on experience at our affiliated teaching hospitals. Delivered entirely in English, our curriculum is specifically designed with USMLE preparation from day one, ensuring students are fully equipped for licensure exams and medical practice in the U.S.
Our four-year MD program features an integrated, system-based approach that provides a comprehensive understanding of human biology and disease processes. The curriculum prioritizes student-centered learning, fostering critical thinking by introducing concepts from multiple perspectives.
With an emphasis on early hands-on experience, students receive an intensive medical education that builds a solid foundation before progressing to clinical rotations and residency programs in the U.S.
The program is divided into Basic Sciences (MS1 & MS2) and Clinical Sciences (MS3 & MS4), ensuring a seamless transition from academic knowledge to real-world medical practice.
UAG graduates have diverse career paths available to them after completing their medical degree. They can pursue residency programs, practice medicine in Puerto Rico, engage in research, enter the field of medical education, or further their studies with a master’s degree.
Residency Program or Further their studies:
Our curriculum prepares students for the USMLE, allowing them to apply for residency programs in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and internationally. Additionally, UAG graduates can pursue master’s degrees in fields such as Public Health, Medical Education, or Healthcare Administration, expanding their expertise and career opportunities in both clinical practice and leadership roles.
Academic and Research Opportunities for UAG Graduates
UAG graduates have the option to pursue rewarding careers in research and medical education, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare. These opportunities allow them to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge while mentoring the next generation of physicians.
Practicing Medicine in Puerto Rico as a UAG Graduate
UAG graduates have the unique opportunity to practice as General Practitioners in Puerto Rico without needing to take the USMLE or complete a residency. Puerto Rico has its own medical licensure system, separate from the mainland U.S., which allows doctors to obtain a license to practice medicine directly after graduation from medical school.
