Dr. William Starr, Returns to His Alma Mater

UAG proudly welcomed back distinguished alumnus Dr. William E. Starr (Class of 1978), now Medical Director of Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgery at Ventura County Medical Center, as he toured the campus and celebrated the school’s continued growth in medical education and innovation.

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara recently had the honor of welcoming back distinguished alumnus Dr. William E. Starr, M.D., F.A.C.S, Class of 1978, for a special visit to campus. Returning to the place where his journey as a physician began, Dr. Starr toured the medical school’s modernized facilities and witnessed firsthand how UAG continues to evolve as one of the leading institutions for international medical education.

Now the Medical Director of Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgery at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, California, Dr. Starr has built an impressive and respected career spanning more than four decades. He practices with Anacapa Surgical Associates and is affiliated with Community Memorial Healthcare, where he specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, and complex wound care. His expertise extends to procedures including tendon and nerve repair, burn and facial trauma reconstruction, and the treatment of conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren’s contracture.
During his visit, Dr. Starr expressed admiration for the school’s recent advancements from updated simulation labs and anatomy facilities to expanded research and clinical training opportunities

As an alumnus who continues to make a meaningful impact in the field of medicine, Dr. Starr’s visit serves as an inspiration to current UAG students and future physicians. His return to campus not only highlighted the lasting connection between the university and its graduates but also reinforced the school’s mission to prepare physicians who serve with skill, compassion, and global vision.
