SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAMS

UAG School of Medicine offers Scholarship Programs that are available only to first-time candidates planning to enroll in the UAG Medical School beginning from the first semester.

UAG offers a variety of scholarships and tools on how to acquire a medical school scholarship, which can assist prospective physicians in defraying the expense of their medical education.

To be considered for a scholarship, students must submit an application by:

 By September 30th November 15th Spring (early January of the following year)

INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

CRITERIA

Incoming applicants to the School of Medicine are eligible to receive an institutional scholarship award. Students may receive up to $26,000 in tuition assistance over a four-year period. All scholarships are one-time awards and are subject to funding availability.

After receiving and reviewing your application, the committee will select 25 possible candidates.

The Scholarship Committee will make the award decision based on your application documents and personal interview.

 

ELEGIBILITY

  • Be admitted to UAG Medical School.
  • This scholarship is open to incoming first-semester students only.
  • Complete and submit the scholarship application and send it to admissions@uag.edu.

The following criteria will be considered by the awarding committee when selecting eligible applicants for this scholarship in addition to the basic eligibility requirements listed above:

  • MCAT score of 500 or higher.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
  • A two- to three-page essay outlining your history and the development of your interest and desire for a future in medicine.
  • Clinical experience, including shadowing/preceptorships.
  • Special honors or recognition.

*Must maintain full time enrollment status and remain in good academic standing.

* While meeting the following criteria assures that you will be considered for the scholarship, it does not guarantee that you will receive one.

SCHOLARSHIP TERMS

UAG School of Medicine Institutional Scholarship applies for the four years of medical school, without interruptions during their studies.

All recipients must qualify each semester by completing the UAG School of Medicine Institutional Scholarships application on time and meet the academic standards.

ALUMNI LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

CRITERIA

The Alumni Legacy Scholarship award was established to encourage future generations of alumni to enroll in and graduate from UAG School of medicine . Scholarship is available to any children and grandchildren of UAG School of Medicine alumni who are pursuing a degree in medicine.

The award is $2,500 per year and the Scholarship Committee will make the award decision based on your application documents and personal interview.

 

ELEGIBILITY

  • Be admitted to UAG Medical School.
  • This scholarship is open to incoming first-semester students only

 

*Must maintain full time enrollment status and remain in good academic standing.

* While meeting the following criteria assures that you will be considered for the scholarship, it does not guarantee that you will receive one.

In addition to the initial eligibility requirements above, the following criteria will also be taken into consideration by the awarding committee when selecting eligible applicants to be awarded this scholarship:

MCAT score. GPA. Clinical experience, including shadowing/preceptorships. A two- to three-page essay outlining your history and the development of your interest and desire for a future in medicine. A child or grandchild of a UAG alumnus. Complete and submit the scholarship application and send it to admissions@uag.edu

SIBLING SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

CRITERIA

Let’s keep UAG in the family. The Sibling Scholarship is awarded to siblings attending UAG School of Medicine, entering our MD International Program. Only new incoming students will earn the award, (current students attending UAGSOM are not eligible)

The award is $2,500 per year and the Scholarship Committee will make the award decision based on your application documents and personal interview.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD NOTIFICATION

All selected recipients will be notified in writing by the UAG Institutional Scholarships office.

SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL

Scholarship recipients must complete and submit an application each semester to review and renew the Scholarship and send it to isao@uag.edu 

The School of Medicine is grateful for the generous support of the Board Members, individuals, and foundations that provide this scholarship.

CRITERIA

After receiving and reviewing the renewal application, the committee will evaluate and consult the candidate’s files. The scholarship committee will decide based on your application, documents and school reports.

  • A personal interview may be requested of renewal applicants.
  • All scholarship awards are subject to academic and financial verification.
  • Scholarships will be awarded prior to the start of each semester.

All recipients must qualify each year by completing the Scholarships renewal application and meet the academic and financial standards.
