STUDENT ASSOCIATION

COUNCIL

The North American Student Association (NASA) at UAG School of Medicine is a student-led organization dedicated to representing and advocating for the interests of the student body. NASA serves as the voice of students, ensuring their needs, concerns, and ideas are heard by faculty and administration. The association plays a key role in enhancing student life by organizing a variety of academic, social, and community service events, promoting engagement, and fostering a sense of community among students.

The Student Council shall work to:

5. Collaborate with Other Student Organizations

Family Medicine Interest Group

The Family Medicine Interest Group is a student-led teaching organization fostering interest in the field of family medicine while enhancing personal, clinical, leadership, and philanthropic growth.

AMSA UAG Chapter

The UAG SOM Chapter of AMSA is a group of motivated students committed to help shape a better, healthier future, for patients and physicians, and the country.

AMWA UAG Chapter

The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) is an organization of women physicians, medical students and other persons dedicated to serving as the unique voice for women’s health and the advancement of women in medicine.

Anesthesiology Interest Group

The anesthesiology interest group's mission is to promote education, communication, advocacy, research, and networking among students and physicians.

Emergency Medicine Organization

Our mission is to provide resources, experience, and opportunities affiliated with Emergency Medicine to students attending our school of medicine through networking, workshops, and consolidation of Emergency Medicine information.

Internal Medicine Interest Group

The Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) is an organized group of medical students who meet regularly to learn about internal medicine and to establish communication with faculty and other students who share similar interests.

MEENTHAL Interest Group

The MEENTHAL group grants the tools and information required in order to improve people’s mental status, due to the society’s absence of knowledge and sensibilization.

OB/GYN Interest Group

UAG OB GYN Interest Group serves as a vessel to share our vast interests, and clue in current medical students to get inspired and motivated in this ever-changing world to change women's health one cervix at a time.

Neurology Interest Group

The purpose of the Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) is to provide neurology oriented events, activities, and resources to students in accordance with the UAGSOM’s Mission.

Pediatric Interest Group

This organization was created to give back to the community and to focus on the tiny humans we hope to treat one day. The strength of this organization lies in the care we have for infants, children, and adolescents and their health.

Psychiatry Interest Group

UAG Psychiatry interest group was established in 2021 with the focus of expanding students' clinical experience in the psychiatric field.

Surgery Interest Group

The UAG Surgery interest group is a student-led organization interested in pursuing a career in surgical professions, from general to orthopedic surgery, as well as reconstruction. We strive not only to be an intrinsic environment of academic success, but to ultimately make our members the best possible applicants for residency.

Sports Medicine Group

The Sports Medicine Interest Group is an organization of like-minded people who enjoy athletics and topics that surround them from a medical standpoint.

Oncology Interest Group

The Oncology Student Interest Group (OSIG) is an organized group of medical students and/or residents who share a common interest in the field of oncology and meet regularly to learn more about cancer, patient care, and pursuing a career in oncology.

Gastroenterology Interest Group

‘’To increase public awareness of gastrointestinal and liver disorders in order to improve the longevity and quality of life of our communities.’’

Plastic Surgery Interest Group

The Plastic Surgery Interest Group is intended to provide new opportunities for students interested in plastic surgery, general plastic surgery, rehabilitation, and trauma. Our main objective is to promote the education in the area, providing students with more hands-on experiences and immersing the students with the obligations and ethical aspects of the profession.

Traumatology Association

The purpose of the Traumatology Association for Medical Students (TAMS) is to provide traumatology-oriented events, activities/ workshops, & resources to interested students in accordance with the UAG School of Medicine’s mission.

Cardiology Interest Group

The Cardiology Interest Group aims to provide UAG Medical Students with a comprehensive view of cardiology through immersive workshops, research, lectures, and hand-on learning.
