AI and Globalization: Driving Innovation Trends at UAG

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) proudly hosted another edition of the Flying High Panel, welcoming global experts in innovation to discuss the future of education, technology, and global trends.
 

Among the distinguished participants was Dr. Jorge Martínez Trabal, a proud graduate of UAG’s International Medical Program and President of the Episcopal San Lucas Medical Center in Puerto Rico. His presence underscored the global impact of UAG’s alumni network and the institution’s commitment to shaping future leaders in healthcare.
 

Embracing Innovation in Higher Education
During the panel titled Flying High: Tecolotes Around the World – Let’s Talk About Innovation, experts highlighted key trends shaping the future of higher education. Topics included Artificial Intelligence (AI), globalization, critical thinking, sustainability, social responsibility, and the importance of adapting to change.

Dr. Martínez Trabal emphasized the transformative role of AI in the medical field, noting that UAG's advanced tools and modern classrooms are essential in preparing students for the evolving landscape of healthcare.

Other panelists included:

  • Ing. Dina Grijalva Varillas, Vice President of CANIETI Occidente and an IBM Mexico executive, emphasized that universities must leverage AI, automation, and applied technology to enhance learning and knowledge development. She also highlighted the importance of sustainability, social responsibility, and early student engagement with private industry to foster real-world skills.
  • Dr. Rick Shangraw, President of Cintana Education, encouraged universities to embrace change and understand the fast-paced evolution of global trends. He reflected on how much society has transformed over the last five years, stressing the need for institutions to remain flexible and proactive.
  • Dr. Arturo Cherbowski Lask, Executive Director of Santander Universities and General Director of Universia Mexico, emphasized the importance of critical thinking and collaboration in navigating this era of global transformation.
  • Ing. Damián Romero Gutiérrez, CEO of Kybel and UAG alumnus, reinforced the need to recognize change as a constant and to harness new technologies to drive industry growth.
  • Lic. César Salvador de Anda Molina, Head of UAG’s Innovation Advisory Council, highlighted UAG’s ongoing efforts to stay at the forefront of innovation, ensuring that the university remains a leader in education and development.

Celebrating Innovation and Global Leadership

At the conclusion of the event, UAG leaders, including Juan Carlos Leaño del Castillo, Vice President of Administrative Affairs, Dr. Alfonso Petersen Farah, Vice President of Academic and Health Sciences, and Ariosto Manrique Moreno, President of the UAG Alumni Association, presented recognitions to the distinguished panelists for their contributions.
 

The panel was a powerful reminder of UAG’s commitment to fostering global perspectives and innovative solutions. We are proud of Dr. Jorge Martínez Trabal and all our alumni who continue to lead and inspire in their respective fields.
