The UAG School of Medicine hosted a heartfelt farewell event for Block 10 students, commemorating the end of their pre-clinical academic journey and celebrating the transition into clinical rotations. The evening served as a powerful reminder of how far these students have come—and the exciting path that lies ahead.
The event began with opening remarks from Lorena Lopez, Director of Student Success, who welcomed students with words of encouragement. She reminded them that this farewell was not just a goodbye, but a celebration of resilience, dedication, and the shared experiences that have shaped their growth. Her message emphasized the importance of staying connected and grounded as they move forward into the next phase of medical training.
Dean Kashif Ahmad followed with a moving speech that recognized the challenges and achievements of the last two years. He reminded the students that they are never alone in their journey—that the UAG community remains a pillar of support and pride as they represent the institution across hospitals in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. His speech concluded with a celebratory toast, honoring not only the academic accomplishments of the students but their personal growth and perseverance as future physicians.
Dr. Rodrigo Vivar, Director of Block 10, took the stage to share a few final words and introduce a special video presentation. The video featured personal photos, classroom memories, and moments of joy and hard work from the students’ time in Guadalajara. It was a touching tribute that drew smiles, laughter, and even a few tears, as students reflected on the friendships and milestones they experienced along the way.
Adding a fun and uplifting twist to the evening, Dr. Rivera, Director of the Center of Clinical Skills Development (CSD), led a spirited awards segment known as the “Golden Eggs.” Students had been nominated by their peers in cheerful categories like Zen Under Pressure, Golden Heart, Most Athletic Doctor, and Best Hair in the Classroom. This lighthearted moment brought energy and joy to the farewell, showcasing the camaraderie and unique personalities that have made this group special.
As the night concluded, students mingled, took photos, and expressed their excitement and nervousness for what’s to come. Faculty members reiterated their confidence in the students’ abilities and their readiness to take on clinical responsibilities with compassion, curiosity, and professionalism.
The farewell for Block 10 was more than an event—it was a meaningful transition filled with pride, connection, and hope. The Student Success Office and UAG faculty send their warmest wishes to the students as they embark on their clinical rotations and continue building the future of medicine.
