Held in the picturesque city of Guadalajara, Mexico, from October 18-22, 2023, the UAG School of Medicine hosted "Let's Make Doctors", a Pre-Med Advisor Conference that brought together a diverse group of Pre-Med advisors, and educators, from various universities across the United States. With a meticulously planned agenda, this conference was an enlightening blend of academic insight, cultural immersion, and a deep dive into the world of medical education at UAG School of Medicine.
Day 1: A Journey of Knowledge and Inauguration
The conference commenced with a hearty breakfast at the HOTSSON GDL-Autonoma Hotel. After the morning fuel, attendees were transported to the International Campus, where the excitement and learning awaited.

The inauguration marked the formal commencement of the event, accompanied by a heartfelt message from Susana Leaño, Vice President for International Affairs. This set the tone for a series of enriching sessions that aimed to equip attendees with comprehensive knowledge.

The attendees were introduced to the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, providing a glimpse into its illustrious history and its commitment to academic excellence. Following this, a detailed introduction to the program of the School of Medicine shed light on the comprehensive curriculum and innovative teaching methods in place.

The heart of the matter, medical education, was explored in-depth, showcasing the transformative journey of aspiring doctors. A quick coffee break allowed attendees to network and mingle, further enhancing the collaborative spirit of the conference.

The day continued with sessions on Clinical Skills Development, highlighting UAG's commitment to practical skills essential for budding doctors. The significance of research in the medical field was discussed, emphasizing UAG's involvement in groundbreaking projects. Further insights were provided into Clinical Sciences and UAG's dedication to academic support, resources, and student success.

Pre-Med advisors also gained a broader perspective on Graduate Affairs, Career Advising, and Licensing in the USA, focusing on the journey towards becoming a practicing physician, especially in the United States.

The day concluded with a dynamic Q&A Session, where attendees had the opportunity to engage with the presenters, clarify their doubts, and gain further insights. A collective picture was taken at the main entrance to commemorate the occasion before attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch at the International Campus, followed by free time for personal exploration.
Day 2: Discovering UAG's Campuses and Beyond
The second day began with a breakfast at HS HOTSSON SMART Gdl-Autónoma Hotel before attendees were transported to the Main Campus for a guided tour, offering a closer look at the institution's vast resources and facilities.

Upon completion of the Main Campus tour, attendees were shuttled to the International Campus for a tour of The Center for Simulated Patient Care, followed by conference sessions in the auditorium, providing a remarkable educational experience. Attendees had the privilege of interacting with UAG students during the meet and greet session, gaining insights into the life of a medical student.

The day was made even more inspiring with Dr. Gregory Marra, a UAG graduate, who shared his journey and instilled a sense of purpose and motivation among the attendees. This was followed by another interactive Q&A Session, where students, alumni, and admissions personnel addressed queries. A delectable lunch at La Casa de los Platos Restaurant followed. The conference concluded with a memorable Mexican dinner at the International Campus, creating a perfect blend of academic insight and cultural immersion.

Day 3: Immersing in Culture and Culinary Delights
The conference’s final day began with free time, allowing attendees to explore the city at their own pace. Transportation to San Pedro Tlaquepaque set the stage for an immersive cultural experience.

A delightful lunch at the renowned Casa Fuerte restaurant was followed by more free time, providing an opportunity for further exploration of Guadalajara.

The "Let's Make Doctors" Pre-Med Advisor Conference was not just a conference; it was an educational and cultural odyssey. Attendees departed with enriched minds, new connections, and a profound appreciation for both the academic excellence of the UAG School of Medicine and the vibrant culture of Guadalajara.
