UAG celebrated Dr. Gregorio Cortés Maisonet and six outstanding graduates from its international program for their exceptional achievements.

The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) recently honored seven exceptional graduates with the prestigious "Lic. Antonio Leaño Álvarez del Castillo" Award, a tribute recognizing their outstanding achievements. 

At the heart of this event stood the Vice President, Lic. Antonio Leaño del Castillo, extending a warm welcome to the esteemed honorees. His words resonated with an affirmation that these graduates embody "living evidence" of UAG's profound impact on society. 
The ceremony, held at the "Dr. Luis Garibay Gutiérrez" auditorium, was a display of profiles celebrating the awardees, followed by heartfelt expressions of gratitude from each recipient.

Present at the presidium was the UAG President, Lic. Antonio Leaño Reyes; Vice President, Lic. Antonio Leaño del Castillo; Emeritus Academic Vice President, Dr. Néstor Velasco Pérez; Secretary-General, Dr. Ricardo Beltrán Rojas; and the National President of the UAG Alumni Association, Mtro. Ariosto Manrique Moreno.

After the ceremony a celebratory toast was offered at the UAG President’s building Courtyard, marking a moment of camaraderie and honor. 

"Dear distinguished graduates, may this award serve as a testament to your unwavering dedication to our Alma Mater. You are role models for future generations, demonstrating unparalleled resilience and determination in your professional journeys. Congratulations and best wishes," he expressed. 

This award, named in honor of the late founder and President, Antonio Leaño Álvarez del Castillo, commemorates graduates' excellence across diverse professional spheres, including international, health, education, culture, sports, technology, finance, business and innovation, social and humanitarian causes, fashion, and governmental positions.

The Award Recipients 
Among the esteemed recipients, Dr. Gregorio Antonio Cortes-Maisonet, an accomplished UAG alumnus from the UAG School of Medicine International Program, received this prestigious award alongside six other outstanding individuals.

Dr. Gregorio Antonio Cortes-Maisonet, a Medical Surgeon, currently serves as the President and Clinical Research Director at GCM Medical Group. Additionally, he serves as the President and Owner of Clinical Laboratories Doctor Center and ExpressCare Pharmacy. Demonstrating leadership, he presides over Jacarandas Investment Corp, which specializes in real estate investments, and Pragmatic Investments, focusing on emerging markets such as medical devices and robotics.  
“This award is not only a recognition of my work but also of the dedication of all the graduates of this institution. Let's continue working together to build a healthier and promising future for everyone.”  
His accolades highlight not only personal dedication but also the collective achievements of graduates from UAG. Dr. Cortes-Maisonet emphasizes collaborative efforts to shape a healthier and promising future. 
 
Joining him in this honor are remarkable individuals: 
Dr. Andrés Palomar Lever: Dr. Lever graduated as a Medical Surgeon. He is a distinguished specialist in Cardio-Neumology at the ABC Medical Center and is a Partner at the Lomas Altas Clinic in Mexico City. With 41 years of work experience, he is widely recognized as one of the most prominent specialists in Cardio-Neumology in the country. Additionally, he is a member of various associations, such as the Mexican Society of Intensive Therapy, the Medical Association of ABC Medical Center American British Cowdray, among others. 

“Thanks to my dear Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, to whom I deeply appreciate this distinction in the hands of Rector Lic. Antonio Leaño.”

Lic. Dora María Fafutis Morris: Lic. Fafutis Morris graduated in Law. She currently serves as the Personal Secretary to the General Directorate of the Decentralized Public Entity, Health Services of Jalisco. She previously held positions as the General Coordinator of Economic Development and Combatting Inequality in the government of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, additionally, she served as Chief of Staff for the Government of this municipality, held the position of General Director of the National Ceramics Award, and coordinated Special Projects for Tlaquepaque, among other roles. 
 
"It is a pleasure to be here today with you all, sharing the 2023 award that distinguishes me as a Distinguished Graduate. I begin by thanking the University and the Honorable University Council for considering me worthy of this recognition." 
Ing. Eduardo Godoy Álvarez: Ing. Godoy Alvarez graduated in Electrical Mechanical Engineering. He is the Founding Partner and Heritage Advisor at Construlita Group, Partner and Advisor at Ciosa Group, partner in several startups, and an independent advisor in other companies. Additionally, he worked within Tecnolite and Construlita Group for 31 years, serving as a counselor for the last 3 years. 

"I deeply value and appreciate this recognition. I urge you to continue on this path, which will undoubtedly lead us to have more graduates proud of their Alma Mater each year."

Lic. Geraldina Isabel Herrera Vega: Lic. Isabel Herrera Vega graduated in Public Accounting. She is the president of the Expo Guadalajara Foundation. Additionally, she serves as the creative director of the brands Cuzan and Mackech Jewels, specializing in metals and precious stones. She has been involved in politics as a Federal Deputy in the 64th  legislative term, holding the position of secretary of the Commission of Economy, Science, and Technology. She has also been part of the National Human Rights Commission
"From the moment I was called to be informed that I was going to be awarded, I felt deeply grateful for this distinction. I am aware of the number of valuable graduates who have made a mark in our country and the world."  
Dr. Luis Antonio Lamadrid Ibarra: Dr. Lamadrid Ibarra graduated as a Medical Surgeon. He is the physician for Team Canelo and Team Óscar Valdez, as well as part of the medical team for the Rayos de Hermosillo, Liliana Ibáñez's Olympic Swimmer team, María José Favela, a Professional MMA Fighter, and Soles, a Major Arena Soccer League professional soccer team. He also provides private consultations in Sports Traumatology at his office and serves as Head of Medical Services for the Boxing, Wrestling, and Mixed Martial Arts Commission in the State of Sonora, an honorary position. 
"Receiving the award was something I really didn't expect. When I received the email and call to inform me, it was the perfect moment. I was in Truckee, California, at a camp with a boxer and it was one of those overcast days when you feel tired.”

Dra. María Georgina García Martínez: Dr. Georgina García Martínez graduated as a Medical Surgeon. She is the President of the Medical Cluster of the State of Jalisco. Her 38 years of professional practice endorse her expertise in private pediatric care. Since 2017, she has been a member of the Latin American Association of Personalized Medicine and the National Laboratory of Personalized Medicine (LAMPER). She collaborates with UNICEF on specific projects benefiting children and adolescents, among other activities. 
"It is a privilege for me to be here today, sharing this evening and expressing my gratitude for this recognition from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, where I entered the School of Medicine in 1975." 
Each awardee, in their respective domains, echoes gratitude for the honor bestowed upon them by the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
