Dr. Neil Berliner, an alumnus of the UAG School of Medicine, has ventured through a multifaceted journey that intertwines the realms of psychiatry and comedy. His remarkable career, which spans over three decades, is marked by a dedication to both the well-being of individuals and the art of humor.
A Distinguished Psychiatrist
Dr. Neil Berliner commenced his medical career in psychiatry in 1988 and has been in private practice in the vibrant city of New York. For over three decades, he has been a beacon of hope and support for individuals grappling with various mental health challenges. His commitment to improving the lives of his patients is both palpable and unwavering.
 
In 2016, Dr. Berliner took on the role of Medical Director at the "
Bridging Access to Care," a prominent mental health center in Brooklyn, New York. In this capacity, he has overseen critical initiatives and played a pivotal role in expanding the center's outreach to individuals in need of mental health services. His dedication to the field of psychiatry and the well-being of his patients is undoubtedly commendable.
 
One of Dr. Berliner's most notable contributions to the field of psychiatry is his pioneering work in incorporating neurofeedback as a treatment for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). In approximately 2014, he returned to UAG to impart his knowledge and insights, specifically lecturing in the field of psychopharmacology. A Comedy Luminary
In an unexpected turn of events, Dr. Berliner ventured into the world of comedy, earning recognition for his wit and humor. As an American comedy writer, stand-up comedian, comedy producer, and comedy instructor, his journey through the comedy landscape is nothing short of remarkable.
 
He began his professional comedy career by writing for none other than "The Howard Stern Show" in 1999, where he crafted humorous content for several show roasts, including those of Artie Lange and Andy Dick. He also took on the task of writing rap lyrics for Fruity Nutcake Rappin’ Granny, an elderly hip-hop artist who frequently appeared on the show.
 
Dr. Berliner's comedy writing prowess extended to esteemed platforms like
Comedy Central and The New York Friars Club, where he contributed to celebrity roasts. His sharp and witty writing was featured in roasts of notable figures such as William Shatner, Flavor Flav, Pat Cooper, and Matt Lauer. To date, he has lent his comedic talents to more than a dozen celebrity roasts, including those of renowned chefs Mario Batali and Anthony Bourdain.
 
In 2013, Dr. Berliner received a prestigious invitation to write for
MAD Magazine, a significant accomplishment in the realm of humor and satire. His comedy material has graced the pages of The New York Times, The View, VH1, the New York Daily News, The New York Post's Page Six, The Village Voice, and numerous other national outlets, establishing him as a prominent figure in the comedy world.
 
His influence in the world of comedy extends beyond writing; Dr. Berliner is one of the most sought-after joke-writing instructors in the United States. His seminar, "Anatomy of a One-Liner," has been a guiding light for countless comedians at every stage of their careers. He has shared his insights at prestigious events such as the World Series of Comedy main event and at The People's Improv Theater in Manhattan.
 
Dr. Berliner's comedy journey also saw him take the stage as a stand-up comedian in various comedy clubs and theaters throughout New York City and Florida. From The
New York Comedy Club to The Gotham Comedy Club, The Broadway Comedy Club, The People's Improv Theater, The Boca Black Box, and The Fort Lauderdale Comedy Club, his humor has resonated with diverse audiences.
