Dr. Luis A Barranco Santana is a highly regarded anesthesiologist dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients in Ponce, Puerto Rico. With his expertise in the field, he plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals undergoing surgical procedures. Currently serving as the President of Dulces Sueños, LLC, located within Hospital Metropolitano Dr. Pila, Dr. Santana upholds the hospital's mission to deliver excellent medical services with the most advanced technology, all while striving for total patient satisfaction.

Having graduated from the prestigious Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in 1999, Dr. Santana began his medical journey by completing his internship at
Damas Hospital in 2000. Seeking further training and experience, he subsequently moved to the United States to pursue a residency in anesthesiology at Tulane University in 2003. It was during this time that he honed his skills and deepened his understanding of the complexities of anesthesiology.

Driven by a passion for specialized care, Dr. Santana dedicated a significant portion of his career to
pediatric anesthesiology. From 2003 to 2004, he underwent a fellowship in this specialized field at the esteemed Cleveland Clinic Foundation. This experience further enriched his knowledge and expertise, equipping him with the necessary skills to handle the unique challenges of providing anesthesia to young patients.

Anesthesiology, as a medical specialty, encompasses comprehensive perioperative care for patients before, during, and after surgery. Anesthesiologists like Dr. Santana possess extensive training in anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. During surgical procedures, they assume the crucial responsibility of monitoring patients' vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
