Throughout its existence, the International Medical Program of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) has positioned itself as an innovative and world-class program.

Since its inception, this University has educated over 18,000 foreign doctors, primarily from the United States including Puerto Rico, who are ethical and professional in their careers.

On January 9th,  UAG welcomed new students to the UAG International Medical Program, where they were bestowed their first white coat, a symbol of their commitment to the medical field.

The event took place at the International Campus, where the new students were joined by their friends and family to celebrate this moment.

Dr. Christopher A. Reeder, Dean of the School of Medicine, greeted the incoming students and addressed the importance of the white coat, a significant emblem that has represented the medical profession for over a century.

Considering that this is the most significant event in the lives of medical students, he strongly encouraged them to continue their careers with professionalism and compassion.
"Humanism means placing the patient at the center of professional choices," he stated.

Dr. Kashif Ahmad, Dean of Medical Education, Dr. Angel Matos, Dean of Student Success, Dr. Ricardo del Castillo, Associate Dean of Medical Education and Clinical Affairs, Dr. Miranda Robledo Amezcua, Academic Director, and Dr. Jose Monsivais, president of the UAG Alumni Texas Chapter, were also present at the ceremony and responsible for bestowing the white coat to the students.

In addition, the new students took the Hippocratic Oath, another sign of medical labor, where they vowed to conduct themselves ethically in their chosen field.

As a special tribute,
Dr. Cristopher A. Reeder had the honor of awarding Dr. Jose Monsivais, a graduate of the UAG School of Medicine, with the Lic. Antonio Leaño Alvarez del Castillo Award for his outstanding accomplishments in the field of medicine during the event.
