Dr. Julie Ann Harrigan: A Journey of Excellence from UAG to Healthcare Leadership

New York City, New York – October 4, 2023 – Dr. Julie Ann Harrigan, a proud alumnus of UAG School of Medicine, is making a significant impact on the healthcare landscape in New Mexico. Her journey from a UAG student to a distinguished family physician and healthcare administrator exemplifies dedication, resilience, and a commitment to improving patient care.

As an actively practicing healthcare provider and experienced healthcare administrator, Dr. Harrigan excels in fostering dynamic collaboration among hospital and clinical leadership, physician organizations, and medical staff. Her responsibilities encompass the supervision and guidance of effective and streamlined electronic health record (EHR) implementation and ongoing enhancements.

With a wealth of expertise in optimizing provider workflows, spearheading quality initiatives, and executing regulatory content-build strategies within diverse multi-hospital and clinic environments, Dr. Harrigan is at the forefront of healthcare informatics. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based clinical methods and a profound understanding of EHR architecture and configuration.
Dr. Harrigan serves as the medical director of Hospice Compassus, where she plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality end-of-life care for patients. Additionally, since July 2023, she has been serving as an Executive Physician Informatics Consultant at Corewell Health. In this role, she provides executive leadership advisory for the One Epic Ecosystem Corewell initiative, a project aimed at unifying 22 hospitals onto a single platform to enhance clinical excellence and standardize practices. Her skills encompass executive advisory, clinical informatics, leadership, quality initiatives, system administration, and healthcare regulatory expertise.

Dr. Harrigan's journey began at UAG, where she pursued her Medical Degree. She went on to complete her first residency in general medicine and surgery in Mexico before undertaking a second residency in family medicine at the
University of New Mexico Hospital. She is currently completing her grandfathered Fellowship Degree in Physician and Clinical Informatics, showcasing her commitment to lifelong learning and expertise.

As a board-certified family medicine physician and a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), Dr. Harrigan has earned recognition from a prestigious medical association. The ABFM is a non-profit, independent organization dedicated to American physicians practicing family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Dr. Harrigan's impact extends to her role as CEO/CMO at Physician EHR Solutions in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here, she advises hospitals, healthcare systems, and outpatient practices on provider workflow, clinical improvement, and EHR implementation. Her leadership and expertise are instrumental in shaping the healthcare landscape in the region.

In addition to her commitment to EHR implementation and healthcare administration, Dr. Harrigan continues to serve as Medical Director at Hospice Compassus, a position she has held since September 2011. In this role, she oversees end-of-life care for numerous patients and is a primary community outreach director, ensuring that the local community receives essential care and support.

Dr. Harrigan's previous roles included serving as a Physician Executive in Clinical Informatics at Impact Advisors from September 2022 to June 2023 and as a Clinical Informatics Advisor at
EvidenceCare from August 2022 to January 2023. Her extensive experience and commitment to clinical informatics have made her a respected figure in healthcare leadership.

Dr. Harrigan is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Medical Informatics Association, the
American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine, and the Association of Medical Directors of Informatics.

In the realm of family medicine, Dr. Harrigan stands as a beacon of comprehensive healthcare, serving patients of all ages. Family physicians are often the first point of contact for patients seeking healthcare services, and they play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions.
