Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, School of Medicine hosted the White Coat Ceremony to welcome the Class of 2026. Over 100 new students attended the event held at the Aula Magana of Ciudad Universitaria on July 14, 2022, at 7:00 PM.
The new students, who join us from across the United States and Puerto Rico, received their white coats symbolizing the start of their journey to becoming physicians.
During this ceremony, the students were joined by UAG faculty members and guests who bestowed white to the new incoming students during the ceremony;

Dr. Christopher Reeder, Dean of the School of Medicine
Dr. Miranda Robledo, Director of Basic Sciences
Dr. Ann Marie Nelson, UAG Alumni, and Keynote Speaker
Dr. Luis Ramirez Ferrer, Director of Surgery Department Mayaguez Medical Center
Dr. Gabriel Garcia Perez, Representative of the University of Miami for Mexico and Central America
Dr. Reeder congratulated the students on beginning their medical education and gave them words of encouragement for beginning their medical preparation. Afterwards, Dr. Ann Marie Nelson, as keynote speaker, expressed the importance and significance of the white coat and offered words of encouragement and advice to the students that completing their medical education at UAG is an amazing experience and through hard work and dedication, they can achieve their dreams of becoming practicing physicians in the United States.
After receiving their white coats, students joined Dr. Miranda Robledo, Director of Basic Sciences, in reciting the Hippocratic Oath for the first time, ensuring they start their careers as physicians on the right foot.
Dominic Barandica, coming from Modesto, California states, “I chose UAG because of its reputation, my community has a lot of doctors and surgeons that come from this university that I wanted to emulate and be like. So, I followed in their footsteps and came to this wonderful institution.”
Students began classes today, Monday, July 18, 2022, in our new state-of-the-art International Campus, which features a modern center for simulated patient care and a center for student success to support students on their journey to becoming physicians.
