The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) School of Medicine continues to distinguish itself as a leader in global medical education and research. We are thrilled to announce that students from our International Program, in collaboration with faculty and the Director of Research, Dr. Lucía Alvarez, have successfully published a systematic review in the highly respected Journal of the AAOS Global Research and Reviews (JAAOS).
The article, titled "Available Treatments and Their Limitations for Hypertrophic Facet Joints," represents months of meticulous research and collaboration, showcasing UAG's commitment to academic excellence and innovation in medical science. This journal, ranked as a Q1 publication, underscores its global impact and the caliber of work produced by the UAG community.
Research Highlights
This systematic review focuses on evaluating platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections as a promising regenerative treatment for hypertrophic facet joints, a prevalent cause of chronic back pain. By comparing PRP with corticosteroid injections, the research highlights the superior long-term efficacy and safety of PRP in reducing pain and improving patient outcomes. This study contributes significantly to the evolving field of regenerative medicine.
